FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida SouthWestern State College has named Dr. Kevin K. Lynum as its new Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, beginning an exciting new chapter for Buccaneer Athletics.

Lynum joins Florida SouthWestern with more than two decades of experience in collegiate athletics as a coach, athletics administrator, educator, and military veteran. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to developing student-athletes, building championship-caliber programs, and fostering cultures centered on excellence, accountability, and service.

Most recently, Lynum served as Director of Athletics at Jackson State Community College, where he provided leadership for a growing athletics department while enhancing the student-athlete experience through strategic planning, academic achievement, program development, and community engagement.

Before transitioning into athletics administration, Lynum built a successful collegiate coaching career spanning NCAA Division I, NAIA, and junior college athletics. His coaching experience includes stops at Norfolk State University, Florida A&M University, Winthrop University, Southwestern College, Warner University, and Northwest Kansas Technical College, where he helped develop championship programs while mentoring student-athletes on and off the court.

A veteran of the United States Army, Lynum served eight years on active duty, including a combat deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His military experience continues to shape his leadership style through discipline, teamwork, accountability, and servant leadership.

Lynum earned a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and has dedicated his professional career to advancing intercollegiate athletics while creating opportunities for student-athletes to succeed academically, athletically, and personally.

As Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Lynum will oversee all aspects of Florida SouthWestern's athletics program, working collaboratively with coaches, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners to continue strengthening one of the nation's premier NJCAA athletic departments.
