Bio

High School: Skeen comes across the state to play for the Bucs this season after preppin at Pompano Beach High School where he a four time All-District performer for the Golden Tornadoes.  As a senior he hit .474 with 12 RBIs while posting a 2.50 ERA with 13 strikeouts in 10 innings on the mound. He was once a travel ball teammate of Oakland Athletics' rookie superstar Jesus Luzardo.  

Personal: Born October 20, 2001, he is the son of Amy Chapman and Cooper Skeen.  He has two brothers, Peyton (21) and Parker (13).

Bucs Complete Sweep of Panthers

Consistency is key in team sports and consistent is what the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were this week in their three game series against the South Florida State Panthers.  FSW won the opener 5-2 on Wednesday before posting a 5-1 win Friday to clinch the series and did the same once again on Saturday at home at City of Palms Park, winning 5-1 behind a solid effort on the mound from Alex Ayala and Riley Skeen to sweep the series and remain in control of their own destiny atop the Suncoast Conference standings.

The #13 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers opened the second half of Suncoast Conference play with a win Saturday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers, defeating the visiting Polk State Eagles 8-5 in a key matchup of the league's top two teams.

Campbell Spurs Bucs to 20 Run Outburst in Win Over Silver Storm

Jordan Campbell hadn't had an at bat in three weeks for the #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers before drawing the start against ASA Miami on Saturday.  You would have never known it.  Campbell went 3-4 with a homer, a triple, and six RBIs, missing the cycle by just a double as the Bucs blew out the Silver Storm 20-8 to improve to 29-10 on the year.

Bucs Survive Late Scare to Even Series with Manatees

The #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers led comfortably for most of Wednesday afternoon's game against #16 State College of Florida, taking an early 4-1 lead and extending it to 8-2 midway through the game.  But that comfort went out the window in a wild 9th inning as the Manatees pushed four runs across and had the tying run just 90 feet away until Antonio Knowles came up with the biggest strikeout of the year for the Bucs to finish off an 8-7 win to even up the two frontrunners Suncoast Conference series at a game apiece.

Lucio Powers Bucs to Series Win

Christian Lucio was 3-3 with two doubles, a home run, and four RBIs to lead the #17 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers past St. Petersburg 5-2 in Suncoast Conference action Saturday afternoon at City of Palms Park in Downtown Fort Myers.  The win for FSW secures their fourth straight series win and pushes the Bucs to 10-2 in league play.

Bucs Fall Late to Sharks

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have been a team that has put up runs in bunches early in games this season.  Unfortunately for them, Wednesday, the #15 Miami Dade Sharks were over an hour late getting to City of Palms Park for first pitch and it took the thump right out of the Bucs offense as FSW managed just three hits in a 6-4 loss to the Sharks to end their season long six game winning streak.

Ortiz, Medina Homer, Pitching Staff Solid in Win Over Eastern Florida

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers used early long balls from Abi Ortiz and Ronny Medina and a quality effort on the mound from three different arms to get past Eastern Florida State 4-2 in the front end of the two teams' home and home Friday afternoon in Melbourne.

Six Run Fourth Pushes Bucs Past Pioneers

A big 4th inning and a solid pitching performance on the mound led the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers over the Indian River Pioneers 9-4 Friday afternoon in Fort Pierce. Abi Ortiz had three hits and homered while Matthew Corpas drove in three to lead the Bucs to their ninth win of the season.

Super Sunday Not Such For FSW Bucs

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers didn't have quite the same luck the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had on Super Bowl Sunday.  Continuing game three of their four game series with the #3 Chipola Indians, the Bucs came back with three runs in the 9th to send the game to extra innings and plated two in the top of the 12th to come within inches of victory, but the Indians hit a walk off, three run home run in the bottom of the inning to take game three 12-11. In the series finale, the Bucs battled, but couldn't overcome a powerful Chipola lineup which put up crooked numbers in four of six offensive frames to win game four 14-8 and sweep the four game set 4-0.

Quick Start Not Enough For Bucs in Game Two Against Indians

In their first 11 games this season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have scored an average of 2.27 runs in the first innings of their contests.  Saturday, it was no different for the Bucs as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead on #3 Chipola with three first inning tallies.  Unfortunately, the rest of the game their bats went familiarly cold as they were blanked the next eight frames, where they average just 0.52 runs per inning on the year, while watching Chipola score nine unanswered for a 9-3 win to take game two of the four game set between the two. The third game of the series was started, but was suspended in the seventh inning with Chipola leading 9-6 and will be finished in the morning before the series finale.

Bucs Open Season With a Bang

If opening day of the 2021 Florida SouthWestern State Baseball season is any indication, Bucs fans are in for a treat this season when they see the Purple and Aqua suit up. Friday night at Terry Park in Downtown Fort Myers, the Bucs first rallied for an 11-6 win over ASA MIami, while in the nightcap of their split doubleheader, they knocked off #4 Northwest Florida to improve to 2-0.
