Taveras Headed to Big 12 Signing With UCF
After donning the Purple and Aqua for the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers this season, sophomore catcher Evan Taveras will be headed back to the Power 4 level after signing to continue his career at the University of Central Florida.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- After donning the Purple and Aqua for the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers this season, sophomore catcher Evan Taveras will be headed back to the Power 4 level after signing to continue his career at the University of Central Florida.
Taveras played his freshman season at the University of Miami where he saw action in 39 games for the 'Canes last year. Returning home this season to play for the Bucs he has played in 5 of 6 games, putting together a .963 OPS with a triple, a home run, and 3 RBIs thus far.
He has helped the Bucs to a 6-0 start to the season, their best start since 2019, while FSW currently sits #3 in the NJCAA National Rankings.
UCF is coming off of a 2025 campaign that saw them go 29-26 overall after a blazing hot 16-4 start to the year which included wins over in-state rivals Florida and Miami. Taveras will join former FSW Assistant Coach Cullen Smith with the Knights as Smith currently serves as UCF's Director of Player Development.
Taveras is one of two Bucs to sign during the early period, joining battery mate Parker Burgess who inked with the College of Charleston.
