CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Following a disappointing series loss to Daytona State over the weekend, the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers dropped three spots to #9 in the week six NJCAA National Rankings released Monday.
The week started good for the Bucs who combined for 27 runs in wins over Indian River on Tuesday and Daytona State on Thursday, but things went South on Saturday as FSW mustered just six runs as they were swept by Daytona in a Citrus Conference doubleheader to drop their first league series of the year. With the 2-2 week the Bucs move to 27-9 overall on the season and slip to the second rung of the Citrus Conference ladder for the first time all season as they fall one game behind Central Florida for pole position with four conference series remaining.
The top five in the week six poll remained the same, just rearranged as Johnson County and Midland held strong at #1 and #2 while Chipola moved up to #3, Cloud County checked in at #4, and Blinn fell to #5. FSW was one of four FCSAA teams in the rankings with Chipola leading the group at #3, FSW at #9, Central Florida up three spots to #20, and Northwest Florida hanging in at #23.
FSW will look to get back on track on Thursday when they travel to Clearwater to take on St. Petersburg with first pitch at Jack Russell Stadium scheduled for 6 PM.
