Bio

Sophomore (2020-21): Cleary joined the Bucs at the break and immediatly found himself in the middle of their playing rotation.  He saw action in 16 contests, averaging 5.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game to help FSW to a State Tournament appearance.  He had his best game of the year at the State Tournament, scoring 13 points on 5 of 8 shooting and 3 of 6 from three against Indian River.  

Medical Redshirt (2019-20): Cleary played at Florida Southern where the Mocs posted 29-2 record and a spot in the NCAA Tournament before its ultimate cancellation. He saw action in one contest, scoring 7 points and grabbing 7 rebounds before seeing his season come to an end with an injury.  

Freshman (2018-19): As a freshman Cleary played in 32 games, drawing 4 starts, and averaged 5 points and 3 rebounds per game for a 25 win Florida Southern squad.  During the summer of 2019, Cleary played for the Great Britain FIBA U20 team.  

High School: Prepped at Redemption Christian in New York where he averaged 21 points and 7 rebounds per game.  

Personal: Born March 8, 1999, he is the son of Lois Cleary and Simon Forster.  He has one sister, Teraya (25).

Hot Shooting Pioneers End Bucs State Tournament Run

The #14 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers ran into a buzz saw in the #2 Indian River Pioneers Friday afternoon in the FCSAA State Tournament Semifinals as the Pioneers came out of the gates hitting 8 of 11 from three in the first half and shot 58% from the field and 55% from three in the game, defeating the Bucs 90-82 to end FSW's run at the tournament.

Bucs Survive and Advance at State Tournament

For 20 minutes of game action, the #14 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers looked like they were in trouble Wednesday night on the road in Niceville, Florida in the first round of the 2022 FCSAA State Tournament. FSW shot a dreadful 37% from the field and went just 1-9 from three in the first half and trailed by as many as 13 before roaring back in the second half for a 67-59 win over the Santa Fe Saints to advance to the tournament semifinals Friday.

Bucs Put On A Show On Fan Appreciation Night

The #14 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers put on a show for their big home crowd of almost 1,600 Thursday night, putting up 115 points in a 115-74 win over Pasco-Hernando on Fan Appreciation Night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

Bucs Grind Out Win Over SCF

It wasn't always pretty for the #14 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers Tuesday night on the road in their 2022 Southern Conference finale against State College of Florida, but a grinding effort and a pair of late threes from Jonathan Dos Anjos led the Bucs to their 19th consecutive win over the Manatees, 66-63 to improve to 22-5 on the year.

Cleary/Alexandre Lead #17 FSW Over Miami Dade

Kaiyem Cleary scored 21 and Klein Alexandre chipped in 14 as the #17 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers cruised to a 75-66 win over the Miami Dade Sharks Saturday afternoon in Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers.

Last Second Free Throw Sinks Bucs Ship

A 15-0 run  late in the second half and a free throw with 1.5 seconds remaining on the clock was all it took for the visiting Hillsborough Hawks to pull off a stunning 72-71 upset against the #10 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers in Suncoast Credit Union Arena Saturday afternoon.

Bucs Drop Overtime Heartbreaker to #3 Indian River

For the second straight game, 40 minutes was not enough to settle things for the #12 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers.  But unlike Wednesday's come from behind overtime victory over Hillsborough, Saturday, they were unable to pull out the win in the extra period as #3 Indian River outlasted the Bucs on their home floor 83-78 to snap a 12 game win streak for FSW.

#12 FSW Wins Overtime Thriller

For the first 30 minutes of the #12 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers' game against the Hillsborough Hawks Wednesday night on the road in Tampa, nothing could go right for the Bucs and everything went right for the Hawks, to the tune of a 13 point lead for Hillsborough with 10:00 to play in the game.  That's when a light switch flipped for the Bucs and they slowly made their comeback before a three pointer with under a second remaining in regulation broke an 81-81 tie.  The ensuing plays can only be described as madness, allowing the Hawks to tie the game, but FSW regained its composure and the Bucs went on to win it 93-90 in overtime to improve to 17-2 on the season.

Bucs Heat Up In Second Half For Road Win Over Manatees

The #15 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers shook off a slow start for a hard fought 70-61 road win at State College of Florida Wednesday night to remain unbeaten in Southern Conference play.

Bucs Win 10th Straight in Route of Hillsborough

Playing for the second time in three days, the #16 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers showed few signs of fatigue Monday afternoon in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, keeping the scoreboard busy in a 90-66 blowout of the visiting Hillsborough Hawks to earn their 10th consecutive win and improve to 15-2 overall and 2-0 in Southern Conference play on the year.

Efficient Attack Leads Bucs to Win in Conference Opener

The #16 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers shot 60% from the field and five different players scored in double figures as they breezed past the visiting Miami Dade Sharks 95-73 in their Southern Conference opener Saturday afternoon in Suncoast Credit Union Arena.

Selebangue Goes For 25 & 17 in Bucs Romp to Close 2021

The #20 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers put on a show for their home crowd in their final game of 2021, putting it on the visiting Illinois Central to the tune of a 93-49 victory to improve to 12-2 on the year. Six of the seven players who played for the Bucs in the win, scored in double figures including Bryant Selebangue who lit the Cougars up for 25 points on 11 of 15 shooting while tying an FSW single game record with 17 rebounds.

FSW Knocks Off Gulf Coast For Fifth Straight Win

The #25 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers earned their fifth straight win Saturday night in Panama City, knocking off the Gulf Coast State Commodores 68-61 behind 14 points from Bryant Selebangue and 12 each from Kaiyem Cleary and Jordan Mitchell.

Bucs Stand Tall in Top 20 Matchup with Snow

The #19 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers turned in their best defensive effort of the early season Friday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena against #20 Snow, holding the Badgers to just 33% shooting and 53 points in a 67-53 victory to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Second Half Does Bucs In In Loss to Spartanburg

The #19 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers couldn't slow down a hot shooting Spartanburg Methodist team in the second half Saturday afternoon in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, watching the Pioneers torch the nets for 52 points in the final 20 minutes in route to an 85-71 win to bring a five game winning streak to an end for the Bucs.

Six in Double Figures As #22 FSW Routes St. Pete

The #22 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers came out with a vengeance Tuesday night off of their first loss of the season, and unfortunately for St. Petersburg, the Titans were in the way as the Bucs used a 16-0 run midway through the first half to blow the game open and never looked back in a 99-68 win at home in Suncoast Arena to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Bucs Stunned On the Road at Santa Fe

The #3 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers were stunned 83-81 by Santa Fe Saturday afternoon in Gainesville. FSW got off to a dreadful start before battling back to take a halftime lead, but the Saints finished strong, taking a lead in the final minute and hanging on to shock the Bucs in their first road contest of the 2021-2022 season.
