Bucs Blast Spartans to Stop Skid
The Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers took their frustrations out on the Florida Coastal Prep Spartans Friday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, hammering the visitors 104-48 to move to 8-4 on the year.

The Bucs won the opening tip and Mason Blazer popped a three on FSW's first possession and the Bucs never looked back from there. They jumped out to a 9-3 lead and pushed the lead to 22-10 on an alley oop from Amont'e Allen-Johnson to Stephen Okoro with 11:27 to go in the half. The Bucs continued to pour it on, making it 30-12 on a slam from Roman Cummings before Lamont Hartfield soared to the hoop for a one handed dunk to make it 42-19 with 3:54 to go in the half. At the break it was all FSW as the Bucs led the Spartans 47-26.
Unfortunately for the Spartans, the halftime break didn't slow the Bucs momentum. Marcus Kelley hit a three to make it 68-31 and three straight triples from Kenyon Giles stretched the Bucs lead to 82-39 with 9:03 remaining. A pair of free throws from Hartfield with 3:59 to go pushed the Bucs over 100 and they went on to win it 104-48.
FSW shot 52% from the field in the win and dominated on the glass with a 57-22 advantage. They turned 24 Spartan turnovers into 21 points on the night and crushed Florida Coastal on the inside with a 62-6 advantage on points in the paint.
Four players scored in double figures for the Bucs led by Giles with a season high 25 on 10-16 shooting. Cummings and Okoro both turned in double-doubles with Cummings racking up 14 points and 14 rebounds and Okoro going for 15 points and 13 boards.
FSW moves to 8-4 on the year with the win while Florida Coastal finishes the Bucs Holiday Classic 0-2 while getting outscored 236-103.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Bucs as they wrap up the first half of the season on Monday and Tuesday in Melbourne as they participate in the Eastern Florida Classic. They will take on East Georgia State on Monday at 2 before squaring off with Gordon State in another matinee at 2 on Tuesday.
