Bucs Star Freshman Headed to Lamar
Following an All-Conference freshman campaign for the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers, freshman guard Lamont Hartfield is headed to the Division I level after signing with Lamar University at a signing ceremony in Suncoast Credit Union Arena last week.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- Following an All-Conference freshman campaign for the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers, freshman guard Lamont Hartfield is headed to the Division I level after signing with Lamar University at a signing ceremony in Suncoast Credit Union Arena last week.
Hartfield averaged 12.2 points per game and shot 45% from the field and 36% from three point land for the Citrus Conference Champion Bucs this season. He earned 2nd Team All-Citrus Conference honors, scoring in double figures 17 times on the year including four 20+ point efforts. His best game of the year came on the road against #9 Daytona State when he went off for a career high 28 points on 10 of 14 shooting and 6 of 9 from distance as FSW upset the Falcons 98-97 in overtime.
Hartfield becomes one of the first signees for new Cards Head Coach Jordan Fee who heads to Beaumont after spending the past two seasons at Florida Atlantic. Last season Lamar finished 12-19 overall and 7-15 in Southland Conference play.
Hartfield is one of three Bucs to sign at the Division I level so far this season joining Mason Blazer (LaSalle) and Kenyon Giles (UMass Lowell).
