Bucs Guard to Join Richter at USC Upstate
Florida SouthWestern guard Amont’e Allen-Johnson will be headed to join a familiar face, at least for Bucs fans, as he has signed to play next season at the University of South Carolina Upstate where he will suit up for the Spartans and former FSW Head Coach Marty Richter.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- Florida SouthWestern guard Amont'e Allen-Johnson will be headed to join a familiar face, at least for Bucs fans, as he has signed to play next season at the University of South Carolina Upstate where he will suit up for the Spartans and former FSW Head Coach Marty Richter.
Allen-Johnson had a solid sophomore campaign for the Bucs, averaging 8.1 points and a team best 3.7 assists per game in 30 contests. He scored in double figures 11 times on the year including a season high 19 on the road at Ranger. He was the Bucs leading assist man as well with 110 on the season including a 13 assist performance against Polk State which tied the Bucs single game record against a Division I opponent.
He becomes the third Buccaneer to play for Richter at Upstate, joining Jafeth Martinez and Karmani Gregory who had an All-Conference campaign in Spartanburg this season.
Allen-Johnson is one of five Bucs to sign at the Division I level so far this season joining Mason Blazer (LaSalle), Lamont Hartfield (Lamar), Kenyon Giles (UMass-Lowell), and Tyler Bey (Grambling State).
