The #2 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers hammered the State College of Florida Manatees in a pair of non-conference contests on Tuesday, throwing their second no-hitter in three games in a 13-0 win in game one of the doubleheader before piling up 15 hits in a 15-3 game two run rule to sweep the twinbill.
BRADENTON, Fla.- The #2 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers hammered the State College of Florida Manatees in a pair of non-conference contests on Tuesday, throwing their second no-hitter in three games in a 13-0 win in game one of the doubleheader before piling up 15 hits in a 15-3 game two run rule to sweep the twinbill.
The opener was close early on as the Bucs put together a two out rally in the top of the 1st to push across a run on an RBI double from Megan Veilleux to take a 1-0 lead, but that was all the scoring through the first four innings for either side.
The Bucs added to their lead in the 5th, taking advantage of a Manatee error to double their advantage to 2-0.
FSW starter Zoe Yzaguirre continued to dominate in the circle in the 5th, working her fifth straight inning without allowing a hit to keep the Bucs in front 2-0.
The Bucs opened things up in the 6th, taking advantage of free bases provided by the Manatees to score four times on just one hit to bump their lead to 6-0.
FSW put things out of reach in the 7th as four straight singles to start the inning made it 8-0 and two batters later an RBI single from Bente Zwanenburg made it a 9-0 game. Giorgiana Woods knocked home two more with a single to right and Lizzy Kwakernaak finished off a seven run inning for the Bucs with an RBI single back up the box to make it 13-0 FSW.
The offensive outburst distracted from what was happening in the circle for the Bucs as the Bucs needed just three more outs to secure their second no-hitter of the early season. Alexandra Solo came in out of the Bucs bullpen and got the first out on a pop up on the infield. The next Manatee hitter reached on an FSW error, but she was quickly erased on a double play to not only finish the game, but close out the no-hitter in a 13-0 win for the Bucs.
Yzaguirre, Kwakernaak, and Solo combined for the Bucs second no-hitter in three games to start the 2026 season. Yzaguirre earned the win with five scoreless frames to improve to 2-0 on the year. Veilleux led the Bucs offense, going 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs while Kwakernaak had a pair of hits and drove home a run at the bottom of the FSW order.
Game two was a different story from the jump. The Bucs first three hitters of the top half of the 1st inning reached and a pair of bases loaded walks and a hit batter gave FSW a 3-0 lead. They weren't done there though as Senna Grootings ripped an RBI single to make it 5-0 and Kwakernaak cleared the bases with a triple to left to blow it open to 8-0. Once the dust cleared it was 9-0 FSW before the Manatees even had a chance to hit.
The teams traded runs in their next at bats, sending the game to the 3rd with FSW leading 10-1.
Woods came through with a two out, two run single in the FSW 3rd to bump the Bucs lead to 12-1 but SCF kept fighting, scoring two of their own in the bottom of the inning to make it 12-3.
Makayla Jakubuwski drove home two with a two out double in the 4th and Valeria Vazquez drove home a run of her own in the 5th to make it 15-3 Bucs.
That's how things would finish as Solo close out the second straight game for the Bucs in the circle as FSW took game two 15-3 in a five inning run rule.
The Bucs banged out 15 hits in the win led by Kwakernaak and Woods who combined to go 5-5 with 6 RBIs. Woods also earned the win in the circle, going 1 2/3 innings with a pair of strikeouts for her first win of the year.
FSW remains perfect on the year at 4-0 while State College of Florida falls to 2-6.
Next up for the Bucs is a trip North to Alabama for the Visit Dothan Invitational this weekend. FSW will play three times Friday before closing out the tournament with an FCSAA Championship Game rematch against #11 Chipola on Saturday morning.
