CHARLOTTE, N.C.- After pushing their winning streak to 10 games with four victories last week, the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers continued their run near the top of the NJCAA National Rankings this week, once again checking in at #3 with their 35-5 record on the year.
The Bucs pitching was outstanding this week, yielding just five total runs in four games last week. FSW started the week with a pair of close wins over #14 Miami Dade, squeaking past the Sharks 3-2 in game one before needing extra innings for a 6-3 win in game two to sweep the doubleheader. It was FSW's 11th and 12th wins over Top 25 ranked teams this season. Thursday it was more of the same as they blitzed Central Florida 9-0 in game one of their doubleheader in Fort Myers before putting it on the Patriots again 12-0 in game two to run their winning streak to 10 and improve to 35-5 on the year.
Once again the poll had a strong Florida flair to it with nine FCSAA squads in the Top 25. Behind Northeast Alabama at #1 it was three straight Sunshine State teams with Northwest Florida at #2, FSW at #3, and Santa Fe at #4 with Temple rounding out the top five. Indian River and Eastern Florida were back to back at #9 and #10 while Miami Dade checked in at #16, Seminole State #18, Daytona State #22, and Gulf Coast State #25.
The Citrus Conference leading Bucs are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Clearwater to take on St. Petersburg in a 2 PM doubleheader.
