GAINESVILLE, Fla.- The #1 Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers flexed their muscles on Saturday, sweeping the #6 Santa Fe Saints by the scores of 5-2 and 10-2 to extend their winning streak to 20 games and all but seal up their 10th straight Conference Championship with six games left to go.
It took a while for the Bucs to get going in game one as they went down in order their first time through the lineup and Santa Fe got a solo home run to lead off the bottom of the 1st to take a 1-0 lead after three innings of action.
The Bucs got their first baserunner of the game in the top of the 4th as Thaima Maximiliana walked and Kaitlyn Klismith singled to put two on with nobody out, but the middle of the FSW order couldn't cash them in, leaving the runners stranded at inning's end to keep it a 1-0 game in favor of Santa Fe midway through.
FSW's offensive struggles continued through the 5th and Santa Fe added to their lead in their half of the inning, taking a 2-0 advantage with two innings left to play.
The Bucs finally woke the bats up in the top of the 6th as they put two on with one out for Noelani Livingstone who shot a single the other way to drive home a run before Emma-Rose Payette ripped a single through the right side to do the same later in the frame to tie the game at 2 after 5 ½.
FSW reliever Zoe Yzaguirre held the Saints off the board in the bottom of the 6th with a 1-2-3 inning and then again in the 7th, pitching around a leadoff walk to keep the game tied at 2 and send it to extra innings.
The top of the FSW order and Maximiliana and Klismith once again set the table in the 8th by reaching base safely to begin the frame and they both trotted home two batters later as Stephanie Basso crushed her eighth home run of the season out to dead center field to put the Bucs in front for the first time in the ballgame 5-2.
Santa Fe made things interesting in the bottom of the 8th, bringing the tying run to the plate with two outs, but Yzaguirre got a pop up in foul ground and Payette took care of it, sealing a big 5-2 extra innings win for the Bucs in the opener.
Maximiliana and Klismith led the offense, reaching base a combined five times and scoring four runs while Basso's 8th inning bomb was the difference in the contest. Lizzy Kwakernaak started and threw four solid innings, allowing just three hits and one run, but didn't factor into the decision. Yzaguirre earned the win in relief, also going four innings and holding the Saints to two hits and one run to improve to 16-2 on the year.

The Bucs had a little bit easier time in game two, hammering Saints pitching for five runs in the top of the 1st inning with Klismith, Makayla Jakubuwski, Senna Grootings, and Mikan Nishiya driving in runs to give FSW a 5-0 lead before Santa Fe had the chance to pick up their bats for the first time.
The Bucs were at it again in the 2nd, this time Livingstone getting in the mix with an RBI single back up the middle to extend the FSW lead to 6-0.
Santa Fe got on the board for the first time in game two thanks in part to a pair of FSW free passes to set the table for them. With two outs, a blooper to left brought one run home and a two out error by the Bucs allowed the second run of the inning to cross the plate to cut the FSW lead to 6-2 at the end of three.
The Bucs got the runs right back in the top of the 4th as Maxmiliana scored on a wild pitch and Payette drove in another with a sacrifice fly to push their lead back to six at 8-2.
The Bucs put the game on ice in the 5th, pushing two more runs across and Charlotte Graham made that stand up out of the FSW bullpen as the run rule kicked in with the Bucs finishing off the sweep with a 10-2 win in game two.
It was again the top of the FSW order doing the damage for the Bucs as Maximiliana and Klismith were all over the bases in game two, scoring five times between the two of them. Alexandra Solo earned the win in the circle for the Bucs, improving to 6-0 on the year, going three innings and allowing two hits and two runs before handing the ball to Graham who spun two shutout innings to close things out.
