FORT MYERS, Fla.- Basso bombs will continue to fly in Fort Myers next season, it just won't be at Buccaneers Park, as Florida SouthWestern sophomore Stephanie Basso has signed to play at Florida Gulf Coast University in 2027.
Basso was a 1st Team All-Citrus Conference and 2nd Team All-FCSAA pick for the Bucs this season, hitting .391 with a team high 13 home runs and 59 RBIs on the year. She had a few red hot stretches for the Bucs this season, the first coming when she clubbed five home runs in seven games to close out the month of February. The next was in a big spot for the Bucs, notching her first career mulit-homer game in an FCSAA Tournament game win over Seminole State. Her third and final was once again in the clutch for FSW as she recorded a pair of three RBI games at the NJCAA World Series, finishing the tournament with seven RBIs in the Bucs five game run to a 3rd place finish in Oxford.
Basso will head across I-75 to play for the Eagles next season after FGCU put together a 21-33 campaign in 2026. They were 14-10 in ASUN action, good for a third place finish in the Graphite Division with a pair of former Bucs in Sietske Drijvers and K'Mari Williams regulars in the Eagles starting lineup.
Basso is one of two Bucs from this year's squad to sign at the Division I level thus far, joining Noelani Livingstone who inked with Alabama last week.
