For the 20th consecutive week, the Florida SouthWestern State Women’s Basketball team was ranked inside the nation’s top 15 in this week’s NJCAA Top 25 Poll as the Bucs find themselves in a familiar position at #14 once again.
CHARLOTTE, N.C.- For the 20th consecutive week, the Florida SouthWestern State Women's Basketball team was ranked inside the nation's top 15 in this week's NJCAA Top 25 Poll as the Bucs find themselves in a familiar position at #14 once again.
Again there was quite a bit of movement in the poll this week, but again the Bucs stayed stuck in the mud at #14 despite an undefeated January that saw them go 8-0. The top four spots remained unchanged with South Plains, Trinity Valley, Western Nebraska, and Gulf Coast State remaining at the top, with Shelton State sneaking into the top five for the first time since early December. Including FSW, five teams from Florida were in the week 11 poll including Gulf Coast at #4, Northwest Florida State at #7, Chipola at #9, the Bucs at #14, and Eastern Florida at #22.
The Bucs won their 20th game of the year on Wednesday, improving to 20-5 on the season. FSW has won eight straight and is 5-0 in Suncoast Conference play. The Bucs have wins over three ranked teams (at the time of the game) on the season in #21 Georgia Highlands, #24 Eastern Florida St., and #21 Pensacola St.. All five of FSW's losses have come to teams ranked inside the top 20 and four of them to teams ranked in the top 10.
FSW will have another chance to add to their list of ranked wins on Wednesday when they host #22 Eastern Florida State in a big Suncoast Conference matchup beginning at 5:30 at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers.
