FORT MYERS, Fla.- Following an All-State freshman season with the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, Makenna Shaffer is taking her talents to the Division I level after signing at the University of Buffalo on National Signing Day in Suncoast Credit Union Arena. 

 

Shaffer averaged 12.0 points and a team high 7.8 rebounds per game for the Bucs as a freshman this season, earning her both 1^st Team FCSAA All-State and 1^st Team All-Citrus Conference honors.  She started her collegiate career with a bang, scoring 15 or more points in each of her first five career games including a 17 point, 11 rebound double-double against Pensacola State in her debut and a 20 point, 16 rebound double-double one week later against Yavapai. Overall, she scored in double figures in 21 of 30 games this season and had 10 or more rebounds on seven occasions. 

 

Shaffer will join a Buffalo squad coming off of a 19-14 campaign in 2023-2024.  The Bulls went 10-8 in MAC action, good for a 4^th place finish and a trip to the WNIT.  

 

Shaffer is one of four Bucs to sign at the Division I level and five overall to ink with NCAA programs for next season joining Addison Potts (Cal State Northridge), Ashley Lester (Arkansas Little Rock), Kiana Wilson (Southern), and Federica Lagana (Lincoln Memorial).
