PENSACOLA, Fla.- A slow start spelled doom for the #19 Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers on Saturday as the Bucs managed just one first quarter field goal and shot 1-19 outside of Chelsea Bishop in the first half as they fell 56-45 to Pensacola to drop to 4-3 on the year.
There was a lid on the Bucs hoop in the first half as they put up just five points in the first quarter to fall behind 14-5. Chelsea Bishop kept them afloat in the second, pouring in 10 points, but the rest of the FSW lineup remained ice cold, shooting 1 for 19 as the Bucs faced a 34-19 deficit at the break.
The Bucs dug their heels in on the defensive end in the second half, holding the Pirates to just 22 points, but their offense couldn't take advantage as FSW put up just 26 themselves as they eventually fell 56-45 to Pensacola.
Bishop finished with 21 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals for the Bucs in the loss. Outside of her, FSW shot just 13% from the field while turning it over 21 times.
The Bucs fall to 4-3 on the year with the loss while Pensacola improves to 7-2.
The Bucs are back in action next weekend when they make the trip to Georgia to take part in the South Georgia Tech Classic in Americus.
