Bucs Topple Titans in Thanksgiving Classic
The Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers wrapped up the Pete Arrington Thanksgiving Classic in style on Sunday, defeating the Albany Tech Titans 82-61 behind a 25 point performance from Chelsea Bishop and a 21 rebound afternoon from Destinie Gordon.
AMERICUS, Ga. - The Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers wrapped up the Pete Arrington Thanksgiving Classic in style on Sunday, defeating the Albany Tech Titans 82-61 behind a 25 point performance from Chelsea Bishop and a 21 rebound afternoon from Destinie Gordon.
The Bucs came out on fire in the first quarter, lighting up the scoreboard for 26 points in the first 10 minutes to get out to an early 26-20 lead on the Titans.
FSW had their best quarter in the second when they once again hit the 20 point mark while holding Albany Tech to just 8 to blow their lead open to 46-28 at the half.
Chelsea Bishop had a monster first half for the Bucs, pouring in 18 points while Eline Briede added 11 off the Bucs bench in the first.
The Titans continued to have no answer for the Bucs multifaceted offense in the third as FSW built their lead to 69-43 at the end of three.
The Bucs went to their bench in the fourth and Albany Tech took advantage to make the final score look a little bit tighter, but at the end of the day it was still all FSW as the Bucs cruised to an 82-61 win to improve to 6-4 on the year.
FSW shot 48% from the field, 40% from three, and 70% from the line in the victory. Bishop led five Bucs in double figures with a season high 25 while Destinie Gordon and Delfina Cergneux posted double-doubles with 11 points and 21 rebounds and 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively.
FSW moves to 6-4 with the win while Albany Tech falls to 7-5.
The Bucs will be back on the road next weekend in the Panhandle where they will face a pair of ranked foes in DII #13 Chattahoochee Valley on Friday and #5 Northwest Florida on Saturday in Niceville.
