ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.- The Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers grinded out a 51-36 road win Wednesday night against the St. Petersburg Titans to improve to 2-0 in Citrus Conference play and close the first half of their 2025-2026 season at 9-5.
It was a rough first 10 minutes for fans looking for offense as points were at a premium early on between the Bucs and Titans. FSW didn't get on the board until the fourth minute of the ballgame while it was just 4-4 late in the quarter until Kiara Harris hit a three to put FSW up 7-4 after one.
The pace picked up in the second, but highlights on the offensive end were still tough to come by. Harris was a bright spot for FSW, drilling three more three pointers to give the Bucs a 22-18 lead into the break at half.
The Bucs and Titans played even in the third with FSW turning to their inside game to protect a four point lead after three as the two headed to the fourth with the Bucs in front 33-29.
With the lead in hand, the Bucs tightened the screws on the defensive end of the floor to preserve the victory, holding St. Pete to just seven total points and two field goals in the final 10 minutes of action to finish off a 51-36 win to remain unbeaten in Citrus Conference play.
Chelsea Bishop led all scorers with 16 points, 12 coming in the second half in the win while Harris connected on five three pointers and finished with 15 for FSW. No other stats were available at time of release.
FSW goes into the break at 9-5 overall and 2-0 atop the Citrus Conference standings while St. Petersburg falls to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in league play.
The Bucs next game will also come against the Titans on January 3rd when the two hook up in Suncoast Arena in Fort Myers in a 2 PM tip.
