Freshman (2020): Baker comes into the 2021 season already as the Bucs all-time leader in assists after an All-American freshman campaign that saw her rack up 992 helpers while leading FSW to a Suncoast Conference Championship and a trip to the NJCAA National Tournament.  She finished 6th in the NJCAA ranks in total assists while quarterbacking the Bucs offense to a .260 team hitting percentage which ranked in the top 10 nationally.  She was named the FCSAA Setter of the Week twice during the season and was also became the first Buc to ever earn NJCAA National Player of the Week honors midway through the season. She had eight 40 assist matches on the season and a pair in which she topped the 50 assist mark. 

High School: Baker was one of two German's on the FSW roster in 2020-2021, making her way to the City of Palms from Porta Westfalica where she prepped at Pascalgymnasium Münster, earning a pair of MVP honors during her senior season.  

Personal: Born July 17, 2002, she is the daughter of Bianca and Carlos Baker.  She has one sister, Kaia (17) who plays at Eastern Arizona, and two brothers, Damian (15) and Logan (10). Volleyball runs in the family for Baker as her mother Bianca played for four seasons at the University of Hartford.

After becoming the first player in program history to earn NJCAA All-American honors on the court in 2020, Florida SouthWestern State sophomore Fiona Baker has made program history again, as Wednesday it was announced that the Bucs setter was FSW Volleyball’s first CoSIDA Academic All-American®, one of just nine female student-athletes across all sports nationwide to earn the honor.

The #4 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers would have preferred it to come a little later in the day, but closed a record breaking 2021 season in style Saturday afternoon at the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas, defeating archrival #3 Miami Dade 3-0 to finish 5th in their second trip to the Big Dance.

FSW Wins Battle of the High Seas, Downs #1 Blinn in Five at National Tournament

It was a battle on the high seas Friday at the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas as the #4 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers took on the Buccaneers of #1 Blinn. FSW dominated the first two sets, but Blinn fought back to take the third and fourth.  There was only room for one Buccaneer in the fifth though and the Purple and Aqua came out of the battle on top as FSW took it 15-10 to take the match 3-2 and advance to the tournament's fifth place match where they will take on Suncoast Conference rival Miami Dade Saturday at 3:30 EST.

Bucs Earn First National Tournament Win in Program History

The #4 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers earned their first NJCAA National Tournament win in program history Thursday afternoon in Hutchinson, Kansas, defeating the #13 Monroe Mustangs 3-0 to advance to the tournament quarterfinals for the second straight season.

#1 FSW Finishes Off Undefeated Conference Season, Breaks Program Wins Record With Sweep of Polk

In the matter of just three years, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers have gone from the new kids on the block to the undisputed top team in the Suncoast Conference as the top ranked Bucs went on the road and finished off their second consecutive undefeated conference season on Saturday, defeating Polk State 3-0 to head into the playoffs on an 18 game winning streak.

It was an emotional night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena on Tuesday, both before the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers game with the Polk State Eagles and during the contest.  Beforehand, the Bucs honored their eight teary eyed sophomores , who came into the game 22-0 in their careers in Suncoast Conference play, but once the ceremony was done, it was on as the Eagles gave the top ranked Bucs all they could handle, but in the end, the FSW sophs stayed unbeaten, winning a 3-0 decision to move to within one win of their second straight undefeated conference championship.

Back to Back Champs! Bucs Clinch Second Straight Conference Title with Sweep of #17 Hillsborough

For the second straight season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are the Suncoast Conference Champions.  The #1 ranked Bucs officially retained their crown on Thursday, sweeping #17 Hillsborough to remain unbeaten at 14-0 in conference play to sew up the title with two games to go.  The bookends were pretty for FSW on Thursday as they hammered down 17 kills in a 25-21 first set win and hit .500 with 14 kills in the third to finish the sweep off with a 25-15 victory.

The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers showed why they are the #1 ranked team in the country Tuesday night at home against Eastern Florida State, steamrolling the Titans 3-0 for their 15th consecutive win on the season.

In a place known for tight battles down the homestretch, the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers scratched out a 3-1 win on the road at #19 Daytona State Saturday afternoon, getting a season high 19 kills from Elissa Alcantara and a program record 17 blocks as a team to sweep the regular season series with the Falcons.

The #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers won their 20th consecutive Suncoast Conference game Thursday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, dispatching of the visiting Indian River Pioneers 3-0 to improve to 16-2 overall and 11-0 in conference play on the season.

Bucs Sweep Key Conference Clash With #5 Miami Dade

With both teams firing on all cylinders in a matchup of the top two teams in the Suncoast Conference, the #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers and #5 Miami Dade Sharks played a thriller in Miami Tuesday night.  FSW fought off three set points for the Sharks in the first to come back to win it 27-25 and won another tight one in the second 26-24 to go ahead 2-0 in the match. Miami Dade looked like they had captured some momentum in the third, leading from the midpoint on until a furious late rally from the Bucs gave FSW a 25-23 win to sweep the match 3-0.

The #1 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers cruised to their 10th straight win Thursday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, sweeping the visiting State College of Florida Manatees 3-0 to improve to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in Suncoast Conference play.

Petkova's Big Day Leads #1 FSW Past Santa Fe

In their first match in program history ranked as the #1 team in the country, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers raced past the Santa Fe Saints 3-0 Saturday afternoon in Gainesville to improve to 7-0 in Suncoast Conference play. In the win, outside hitter Maria Petkova shined, finishing with 15 kills and hitting .519, marking the most kills in a three set match from an FSW outside in program history.

Bucs Remain Red Hot, Win Program Record Eighth Straight 3-1 Over #14 Hillsborough

The #2 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers cruised to a 3-1 victory over #14 Hillborough Saturday afternoon in front of a big crowd in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, in the process, setting a new program record with their eighth straight win and taking a two game lead in the Suncoast Conference standings with eight games remaining on the slate.

The #2 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers put on a clinic Thursday night on the road at Eastern Florida State, sweeping the Titans by scores of 25-12, 25-15, 25-11 to earn their seventh straight win and improve to 10-2 on the year.

The #2 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers started a different lineup in all three sets Tuesday night in a marquee matchup with #19 Daytona State in Suncoast Credit Union Arena but it didn't seem to matter much as the Bucs swept the Falcons by matching 25-13 scores in all three periods to take over sole possession of first place in the Suncoast Conference standings.

FSW Grinds Out Road Win at SCF

Things weren't always pretty for the #4 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers Saturday in their 3 PM matinee contest with the State College of Florida Manatees, but at the end of the day, they took care of business, downing SCF 3-1 to improve to 8-2 overall and 3-0 in Suncoast Conference play on the season.

4th Ranked Bucs Pick Up Road Sweep at Indian River

As long as Florida SouthWestern Head Coach Thais Baziquetto-Allen goes with the saying 'it's not how you start, it's how you finish', she will be pretty happy about her 4th ranked Bucs' Thursday night road sweep of Indian River. FSW got off to a slow start in the first and had to come back multiple times to win a 26-24 slugfest before getting things going in the second for a 25-19 win and finishing the night off with a clean 25-14 win in the third to complete the sweep and improve to 7-2 on the year.

Bucs Down #2 Miami Dade in Epic Instant Classic In Suncoast Arena

On a night in which they unveiled their 2020 Conference Championship and National Tournament banners, the firsts in school history, during a pregame ceremony, the #4 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers earned their best win in program history, upending #2 Miami Dade in an epic five setter between two of the nation's top teams to open their 2021 Suncoast Conference schedule.

Bucs Sweep Eastern Arizona, Tripped Up by #4 Utah State-Eastern

The #6 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers split a pair of games at the Dalton Overstreet Invitational in Arizona on Friday, dropping a 3-1 decision to #4 Utah State-Eastern in their first game of the day before bouncing back with a 3-0 sweep of Eastern Arizona to close out their day.

Revenge! FSW Knocks Off #2 Snow in National Tournament Rematch

Five short months ago, the Snow Badgers ended the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers hopes of an NJCAA National Championship, sweeping FSW in the quarterfinals of the National Tournament. Saturday morning the Bucs exacted some revenge, taking it to the 2nd ranked Badgers 3-1 to wrap up their stay at the Dalton Overstreet Invitational in Arizona.

The #6 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers came out on fire and took care of business Thursday night in front of a rowdy road crowd at the Dalton Overstreet Invitational, downing #16 Yavapai 3-1 to improve to 3-1 on the early season.

Baker vs. Baker Battle On Tap For Bucs in Arizona

Florida SouthWestern setter Fiona Baker grew up playing alongside her little sister Kaia for 10 years in Germany before coming to Southwest Florida last fall to play for the Bucs.  Friday the two will be on opposite sides of the net as FSW’s All-American goes head to head with her ‘Brudi’ as they call each other, when the Bucs take on Eastern Arizona in the Dalton Overstreet Invitational in Prescott, Arizona.

Bucs Drop Heartbreaker in Five to #15 Salt Lake

Despite a valiant effort, the #7 Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers couldn't dig out of an early 2-0 hole Saturday afternoon at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in the Battle at the Beach Tournament, dropping a five set heartbreaker to #15 Salt Lake to close their weekend at the tournament.

Petkova Powers #7 FSW to Opening Day Sweep

A season ago, then Florida SouthWestern State freshman Maria Petkova bided her time, playing second fiddle behind a host of Division I hitters including All-American Yasso Amin and 1st Team All-Conference outside Julia De Sa.  Friday, in the Bucs 2021 season openers at the Battle of the Beach Tournament at Suncoast Arena, it was Petkova's turn to shine and she took full advantage of that.  The Bucs captain went off in FSW's first game of the day, tying a program record with 22 kills in a 3-1 come from behind victory over #20 Monroe and capped off the day with 13 kills on just 18 swings in a dominating 3-0 sweep of #10 Missouri State-West Plains.

Bucs Set to Kick Off 2021 Season at Home in Battle at the Beach Tournament

Entering their third season of competition, there are heightened expectations for the Florida SouthWestern State Volleyball program this season.  The Bucs are coming off of a Suncoast Conference Championship and their first trip to the NJCAA National Tournament a season ago and open 2021 ranked #7 in the NJCAA National Polls.
