GREENWOOD, Ind.- Following an outstanding career both on the court and in the classroom for the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers, two time NJCAA National Champion Victoria Zibecchi has capped her time in Fort Myers with the ultimate honor for a student-athlete as Tuesday she was named a 2024 CSC Academic All-American, an honor bestowed to just 20 student-athletes across all sports at the two year level nationwide.
Zibecchi had a huge season on the floor for the Bucs as a sophomore this fall, playing in all 32 matches and earning 1st Team All-Citrus Conference and FCSAA 1st Team All-State honors while averaging 3.10 kills per set and hitting .306 on the year. She was one of just five players Nationally to finish the season with over 3.00 kills per set and over a .300 hitting percentage. Zibecchi came up huge for the Bucs during their National Tournament run, finishing FSW's four matches in Hutchinson with 53 kills and just two errors, good for a .451 hitting percentage and 4.08 kills per set, including 15 in the Bucs NJCAA National Championship match victory over Miami Dade. For her efforts she was named to the National Tournament All-Tournament Team. She finished her Buccaneer career in the Top 10 in program history in kills, kills per set, hitting percentage, and aces. But it wasn't just individual success for Zibecchi with the Bucs as in her two seasons in Fort Myers Zibecchi helped lead FSW to a 58-2 overall record, a pair of Conference Championships, two FCSAA State Championships, and back to back NJCAA National Championships.
In the classroom she was equally as successful. Earning a 3.67 GPA as a Biology Major, Zibecchi earned NJCAA All-Academic Team honors as well as FCSAA Academic All-State honors in both of her seasons with the Bucs.
Beginning in 1952, the Academic All-America program is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across championship college sports. The list of past Academic All-America award winners is a collection of some of the most memorable names in sports history. Zibecchi joins an exclusive club that includes the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Caitlin Clark, Peyton Manning, Katie Ledecky, Buster Posey, Candace Parker, and many other household names.
With Zibecchi's selection, the Bucs Volleyball program has now had a CSC Academic All-American in three straight years as she joins Fiona Baker, Julia Lawrenz, and Barbara Koehler who was the first trio to capture the honors.
Zibecchi will continue her academic and athletic career next season at Southern Utah University.
