CHARLOTTE, N.C.- For the fourth straight season, the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers are headed to the postseason ranked #1 in the country after the NJCAA released their final regular season poll on Monday with the Bucs on top.
FSW ran their winning streak to 11 this week, sweeping a pair of matches to claim their third straight FCSAA State Championship. The Bucs defeated Daytona State in the semis on Friday before beating conference rival and 2nd ranked Miami Dade 3-0 in the two teams 13th meeting the past four seasons.
The Bucs are 21-1 on the year with 19 of those 21 wins coming via 3-0 sweeps. Even more impressive yet is the fact that FSW has played the second toughest schedule in the country this season according to the Massey Ratings, while beating 14 Top 20 ranked teams and five Top 5 ranked teams along the way.
FSW was followed in the week 10 rankings by Miami Dade, New Mexico Military, and Northeastern yet again with Weatherford moving up into the final spot in the Top 5. After finishing 3rd at the FCSAA State Tournament, Daytona State found their way back into the Top 20 at #20.
Next up for the Bucs is a trip to the NJCAA Atlantic District Championships on Saturday where they will take on the Fire Ants of the University of South Carolina Sumter in Spartanburg with a ticket to the NJCAA National Tournament on the line.
