Lucic Named FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week
After registering 19 blocks in three matches over the weekend, Florida SouthWestern middle blocker Aleksandra Lucic has been named the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- After registering 19 blocks in three matches over the weekend, Florida SouthWestern middle blocker Aleksandra Lucic has been named the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week.
Lucic was a blocking machine for the Bucs last weekend at the Crystal 'Inn'Vitational in Salt Lake City, recording 19 stuffs across three matches played. Friday she started the weekend with 5 blocks in a tight 3-2 loss to Southern Idaho. She backed that up with a season high 8 blocks, including 3 solos as the Bucs downed the host Bruins of Salt Lake later Friday night. Saturday she played big again in the middle, getting in on 6 blocks a three set win for FSW over #16 Western Nebraska.
Through two weeks of the 2025 season Lucic ranks second in Region VIII with 35 total blocks and third in the Region with 1.46 blocks per set.
Lucic was joined in the week two Player of the Week grouping by Bucs setter Irina Makinen who was named the FCSAA Setter of the Week for the second straight week this week.
Lucic and the Bucs head across the state this weekend to take part in the Titan Invitational in Melbourne as they take on Andrew, #4 Weatherford, Jefferson, and USC Lancaster.
