Sabitova Headed Across Town to Play For Eagles
While Florida SouthWestern Buccaneer fans unfortunately didn't get the chance to see setter Dinara Sabitova play in the Purple and Aqua this season because of NJCAA rules, they won't have to go far to see what they missed next season as the Bucs freshman is headed across town to Florida Gulf Coast University where she will have two seasons to play with the Eagles starting in the fall of 2026.
FORT MYERS, Fla.- While Florida SouthWestern Buccaneer fans unfortunately didn't get the chance to see setter Dinara Sabitova play in the Purple and Aqua this season because of NJCAA rules, they won't have to go far to see what they missed next season as the Bucs freshman is headed across town to Florida Gulf Coast University where she will have two seasons to play with the Eagles starting in the fall of 2026.
Sabitova redshirted this season with the Bucs due to NJCAA amateurism rules but was a key practice player for FSW in their run to their fourth straight NJCAA National Championship Game appearance.
The Russia native played for Severyanka prior to her arrival to the United States, where she helped her team to a European Championship.
She will join an FGCU squad coming off of an ASUN Regular Season Championship under first year Head Coach and former FSW Head Coach and NJCAA Hall of Famer Thais Baziquetto-Allen. She will be one of four former Bucs on the Eagles roster next season, joining FSW National Champions Julija Grubisic Cabo, Abby Toeniskoetter, and Anna Marzella.
Sabitova is one of six Bucs to sign during the early period, joining Patrycja Labucka (South Dakota State), Sara Gamboa (Florida Atlantic), Sara Gasparini (Morgan State), Giovanna Rocha (South Florida- Beach), and Sarah Webb (Eckerd).
