FORT MYERS, Fla.- After winning a pair of National Championships with the Florida SouthWestern Buccaneers, sophomore outside hitter Sara Gasparini is off to the Division I level after signing to play at Morgan State University for the 2026 season.
Gasparini played in 36 career matches for the Bucs, racking up 208 kills and 223 digs for the Purple and Aqua. As a freshman in 2023 she took over a starting role midseason after an injury for the Bucs and shined the rest of the way, ending the season averaging 1.93 kills per set and 2.24 digs per set for an FSW team that went 31-1 and won their second consecutive National Championship. Her sophomore season she saw the exact opposite happen as she was the focal point of the Bucs offense early in the year before an injury nine games in sidelined her the rest of the way. In the Bucs first nine games she was averaging 2.66 kills and 2.41 digs per set including a 15 kill game over #15 New Mexico Military and 11 against #2 Miami Dade.
In her two seasons with the Bucs, Gasparini helped FSW to a pair of Citrus Conference Championships, two FCSAA titles, and two NJCAA National Championships while going a combined 57-2 overall.
She heads to Morgan State to join a Bears squad coming off of an 11-14 mark in 2025 which included an 8-6 record in MEAC play.
Gasparini is one of eight Bucs to sign at the next level this season including one of five to sign at the Division I level, joining Giovanna Rocha (South Florida-Beach), Sara Gamboa (Florida Atlantic), Patrycja Labucka (South Dakota State), Dinara Sabitova (Florida Gulf Coast), Irina Makinen & Sarah Webb (Eckerd), and Aleksandra Lucic (Mercy).
